Glass is a very important part of the building envelope. It protects and adds aesthetics to the value of your property.
Their is 2 types of safety glass.
Tempered glass is used in every glass in your vehicle except your windshield. Tempered glass is also used in entry ways, shower doors, shower glass and any opening below 36" inches. Tempered glass breaks into small nuggets reducing anyone from getting hurt.
Laminated Glass is used in your auto windshields. Laminated glass can also be used in entry ways and any opening below 36" inches.Laminated glass breaks into a crack. Laminated glass is glass glued together ed with a plastic in the middle preventing anyone from getting hurt and adding more security to your property.

As the grass starts growing and the sun continues shining, the need for landscaping arises. Out comes all of the latest and greatest lawn engineering tools. The proud and zealous home owner can be so engulfed in the performance of their new tools that rocks can fly....everywhere.... including the sliding glass door.
After the shock wears off, you realize that there are some decisions to make: buy a new door and have it installed. That could get messy. There's the stucco repair, new paint that probably won't match, and the risk of not getting a water tight seal. Plus, good luck on finding the exact same door as it's most likely discontinued. And last but not least it will be costly.
Or...., you could have just the glass replaced. This alternative leaves the original door intact and almost completely eliminates the risk of a broken seal as only the glass itself will be replaced. In addition to a timely install the cost is much more affordable than the previous alternative.
It is important to note that in either choice, having an experienced professional perform the installation is highly recommended.

What is a warranty? A warranty is an assurance by one party to the other party that specific facts or conditions are true or will happen. It’s a statement made by the seller or manufacturer of a product or service provider indicating that it will perform in the way specified. Products can have problems either upon purchase or after a certain amount of time. Defects sometimes are not apparent until you are using the product.
A warranty is a sign that the company has confidence in its products and specialized skill and that they will last longer. Consumers will be re-assured by a warranty on your products and services, so if you have one make it clear on your sales literature. If you don’t have one, it’s certainly something to consider.

As I was leaving the house and getting ready to take my daughter to school, I was greeted with an icy, frosty thick windshield. Turning on the defroster in 30 degree weather just wasn't clearing it up faster enough for my teenage daughter. "Dad", she said, " just go inside and get some hot water and pour it on!"
Now how many times has that idea crossed someones mind, let alone, how many people actually pour hot water on their windshield? DO NOT POUR HOT WATER ON YOUR ICY WINDSHIELD. It will only lead to cracking.
If you are in a hurry, use an ice scraper while your car is running the defroster. If you do not have an ice scraper, use a credit card to clean of the frost off of your windshield. IF you have the time, let the defroster do its job.
A way to prevent an icy windshield is to place a towel on your windshield the night before. This way the frost will settle on the towel, not on your windshield. Just remove the towel and off you go!
